Guest guest
My 5 year old son has been on SCD for about 3 weeks. (He has gained 1 pound I believe since starting. He is very thin - 41 pounds). We previously were on GF/CF/SF/CF for 3 years. I have two problems with the diet; (1) my son is eating so much food - more food than his 175 pound Dad; (2) he has diarrhea because he is eating too much fruit. He does not like the nut bread. I am waiting for my dehydrater to arrive so I can make him chips from butternut squash. Any suggestions? This is a sample of what he is eating: BREAKFAST 2 eggs scrambled 1/2 small melon apple LUNCH meat serving (hamburger, etc) 1/2 small melon fruit roll up cut up vegetables SNACK AFTER SCHOOL 2 fruit roll ups vegetables apple DINNER vegetables 2 adult portions of meat (i.e. steak and pork chop) 2 fruit roll ups
Guest guest
Congratulations on the weight gain. I don't think he should be eating fruit roll ups until much later in the diet. It's dehydrated fruit so the sugar and the fiber is more concentrated. Also the melon. All fruits in the beginning should be peeled, seeded and cooked. The portion sizes will decrease as his body adjusts. It does seem like they start eating lots of food. Pearl rileyhunter2003 wrote: My 5 year old son has been on SCD for about 3 weeks.
