Frontline providers in rural areas,

agricultural areas should not miss MCN’s January 8th (1 pm

EST) webcast on agriculturally based infectious diseases presented by Steve

Kirkhorn, MD, MPH. Learn how

to recognize and treat various types of zoonoses, infectious diseases which are

naturally transmitted between vertebrate animals and humans. Learn

the diagnostic steps to make an accurate differential diagnosis and learn about

the resources to obtain up-to-date information on endemic distribution,

outbreaks, and treatment of agricultural infectious disease.

Dr. Kirkhorn combines 25 years of

both primary care in rural areas and specialty occupational/environmental

medicine. His focus is rural occupational/environmental health and has

provided occupational health services to the agricultural community in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

He presently is the Medical Director of the National

Farm Medicine

Center at Marshfield Clinic, Marshfield WI

and is involved in national agricultural health and safety research and

outreach.
