Guest guest
Kimber, Thanks for the name. I will check that one out. I looked at the Therasense / Freestyle Tracker more last night. It is a little confusing. One moment they say you buy the Visor separate, then they show you three choices, the glucometer attachment, software, and cradle alone, and two choices of the basics + two different versions of Visors. I will have to look into the different Visors. They say that they haven't had any trouble with insurance since it is a glucometer, but I think they must be talking about the basic unit without the Visor. I think it would be just as well to be able to transmit to the doctor from my home PC as the Visor. For anyone who is interested the site for the Tracker http://www.therasense\ ..com/tracker/product/index.asp I went and visited the lifescan site and looked at the One Touch Ultra Smart. It looks comparable to the Tracker in cost, since you have to buy the computer cable separately. But presently they have the meter with a $20 rebate and a $50 trade in, putting the meter at $29 It looks like it does a lot. The one difference is that it does not have a PDA per se, as the Tracker actually has windows. But, for the cost, looks good. The site for this is http://www.lifescan.com/products/meters/ultrasmart.html The Life scan website does not sell their meters. The website they recommended is http://www.diabeticexpress.com/cgi-bin/dexpress.cgi/01-49.html?id=darr3myj I then found an interesting site that has a list of a couple of dozen sites that have computer downloads for Diabetes Management. Some cost, some are free. There are several good ideas there, that you could use and keep your same glucometer. It wouldn't offer you immediate access to input data, but still would manage the data better than the notebooks I have all over my house!
