I have a 28 yr. old daughter who has a slight weight problem (nothing like her dear ole mom) and I set and thought how I would react if she were to tell me that she wanted this MGB. It gave me a minutes pause because i love both my children more that my own life, but then I realized that the main thing I have ever wanted for my children is for them to be happy and healthy, so if she told me that this is what she truly wanted and that she would be happier being able to make herself more healthy, control her food craving and be able to have a much more active life then I would tell her to go for it!!! Bless her heart she immediately told me to do it when I first mentioned it to her, she worries about my health and she knows I am unhappy the way I am and wants me to do whatever I need to accomplish this. I believe your daughter has researched this out, educating herself on this procedure and searching her heart and soul to make an informed decision. I hope you will be there to hold her hand when she has this done and try not to worry. Dr. R has an excellent reputation and I believe she will truly be in great hands. I know we as parents can't help but always worry over our babies no matter what the age, but try to stay calm and look at this as a whole new wonderful life opening up for your daughter. I didn't mean to write a book, I just wanted to let you know that I understand your worries. There are two ladies on the site right now that both of their daughters are having the MGB. Flo (who is a post-op of the MGB) her daughter Drema is having it and Debbie and her daughter Chris are having it done hopefully together in August. Cathy in Lenoir, NC 5' 0 " 216.5 Lbs. Guest guest
Hey Gang, I need to ask a favor of y'all. I'm set to have my surgery August 2nd...YEAH )!!! My Mom is coming with me to NC. Altough I have given her all of the info and she understands the relative safety of the procedure I know she's worried for her baby. I think she could use some words of encouragement. I have told her how to find this group and hope she'll at least start lurking tonight. Any posts would be appreciated! Her name is Pamela Lee, no not THE Pamela Lee, her callname is " Ammah " ...my neice's version of grandma. Thanks for the support! To Deb in IL... I'm sorry to hear has such a hard time with blood draws, I hope she's feeling better. Sometimes placing a warm compress or heating pad over the bruise will help it resolve more quickly and it feels good! I'm so happy for the two of you making this journey together. I know you'll get your approval soon. Laurel

I know it will bring a few tears to her eyes. It did to mine. Thanks for sharing again. And be assured that lots of us are praying about your insurance dilemma and surgery date. Maybe we will get to do this togeher. Thanks - laurie in OHio
