, I haven't had a Whipple, although I did have surgery to

have it done back in March, but they found multiple tumours making

it impossible for it to be done. They couldn't call up enough small

intestine to join to the stomach or wherever it joins to and also

that I risk bleeding to death due to where the tumours are situated

on major blood vessels.

I asked my doctor again a few months back if it would be at all

possible for a whipple as I was given that option or another

sphincterotomy and stents on an as needed basis. He told me that

even if they could perform this surgery on me, chances are that I

would still have pain start again, whether it be straight away, or

at a later time after the surgery, and that a high percentage of

people experience a relapse in pain.

So after having no choice but to have stents placed and a

sphincterotomy or sphincteroplasty...via ERCP, after 3 more

attempts, it seems to have worked. I have been hospital free for 3

months now, which is a record for me. I am beginning to experience

mild attacks again, so I believe my duct is weakening again and

beginning to close, but until it gets worse, I will perservere. The

pain has still lessened so much that it isn't interfering with my

life a great deal..mainly happens at night when i'm relaxing for the

evening.
