Guest guest
Paget, I'm so sorry to hear about the way your surgeon has been treating you. I had the same problem with doctors when I first started getting sick. One doc in the ER had blood drawn showing elevated amylase levels, came into the little room & said " Well, I guess you really do have pancreatitis, but I think you're doing ok without pain medicine. " (He makes me so mad that I fight with my desire to list his name here.) One told my Dad that I was just wanting drugs. He believed that doc until he went with me to the GI specailist & was told that I definately had pancreatitis. I spent so many of those first few years fighting that stigma. I still get angry when I think about it. It makes no sense to me for someone to tell another person how much pain they are feeling. Obviously, it's up to you to choose your doc, & hopefully you can make him listen & understand so he won't treat others the same way. I continued searching until I found a doc, GI specialist, counseling center, & pain clinic that all work together to treat me & never make me feel like an addict searching for drugs. (But it took about 7 years to find them & get them all coordinated.) Never give up just b/c a doctor is insensitive. That's my humble opinion. Big hugs to you!
