Guest guest
Another problem that has been pestering me is that ever since I started taking insulin, I have terrible night sweats. Each and every night. They are so severe that my pj's, pillow, the sheets and covers are soaked through and I have to change everything out each night, at least once. Since I often have night hypo's (low blood glucose), I thought it might have some correlation with that, but I check my BG's each night when it happens, and they can be low, normal or high, it doesn't make any difference, I still sweat. I'm post menopausal, and had the night sweats 10 years ago when going through menopause, but that stopped years ago, and I'm on hormone replacements now (OTC Estroven), so I know it's not hormonal. I'm not on any daily pain narcotics that could be a cause. I'm taking them now on an as-need basis, and go for many days at a time without any pain medication at all.....yet still sweat every night, so that's not it. The only correlating factor is the addition of insulin to my daily life, but I've checked with my diabetic support group, and they all say they only experience this with a hypo, not when they're blood glucose is running normal or high. But then again, most of them are type 2's, and aren't even on insulin. I mentioned it to my CDE, and she said she didn't know what it could be, she'd only heard of the problem associated with hypo's, too. So I'm clueless as to what could be causing it. I asked my GI if he had any ideas, and he didn't seem to have an answer, but he did order up some new bloodtests for me to do tomorrow. Does anyone else have any idea? I know there are a lot of nurse's among the group, maybe someone could shed some light on this. I've run out of jammies to wear and I " ll send my address to anyone who wants to send me some old t-shirts...hahahaha! I'd love to hear your ideas on this one. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
