Guest guest
Hi Genz, I have an idea.... and I'm not sure if it would be applicable, but may be worth a try. Here's the background: I worked at a hospital in Honolulu for over 3 years, and during that time observed that airlines can be fairly flexible with airfares and scheduling in cases of medical reasons for flying. (eg; having to change one's ticket because a vacation is lengthened or shortened due to family, or oneself's going to the hospital... or having to buy a ticket due to " emergency " circumstances... hospital admission of self or family member, medical procedures not done anywhere else, funerals, etc....) I realize that it is up to the specific airline as to what their policy is, and what they consider reasonable grounds to make such exceptions.... but, you may want to explain that you are heading to Durham to have a life saving surgery, that a full fare would be economically devistating, and would like to know what thier policy (if any) is on availability of lowered fares for medical circumstances. You never know... it may be worth the try. I hope that helps. Jenn in Vancouver, WA patiently waiting to cross (insurance pending and PCP's letter-etc still at the transcriptionist) ______________________________________________________________ Hi Debbie, Believe me Southwest is the first one I checked with.....almost $700. All the discounted flights were taken. Northwest was over $1400 and so was American. I told them I only wanted to go to Durham, not buy it. I'm in the DFW area, you would think I could find a cheap fair somewhere. I've got my friend Joanne working on it for me. We'll see what she comes up with.
