if you want a primary source for non elevation of pancreatic

enzymes (amylase and lipase), go to the Hopkin's GI

website. Here's the link to the Chronic pancreatitis section

to the page you want. In the Diagnosis section, under

Biochemical measurements, it says that with chronic

pancreatitis, the enzymes can be low, normal or elevated.

http://www.hopkins-gi.org/pages/latin/templates/index.cfm?pg=disease3 & organ=4 & di\

sease=24 & lang_id=1 & pagetype=10 & pagenum=254

It's a long link, so if the link wraps, it may lose the tail

end of the text. If this occurs, just retype all of the

text into the browser and it will bring you there or just go

to the main website: http://hopkins-gi.org/ and do a search

on chronic pancreatitis. Select any of the links to the

chronic pancreatitis section. The Chronic pancreatitis menu

will be on the right of the title (the purple bar on to the

right of the section title). You won't see it initially, but

if you roll your cursor over it, it will pop down.
