Guest guest
I loved your account of the nice teacher--such a blessing--and such a salvation for all, really! Our child wcf (well, is an adult now) was literally saved and enabled to attend public school here by really great teachers! Love to you two, Liam, Eilish and Eilish's teacher! n Rojas
Guest guest
I think it is wonderful that you have such great teachers that work with your child and your childs medications that is wonderful and I hope for you that it continues though there middle school and high school years. As for us we have a remarkable child ummm adult (he is 17 will be 18 in 5 months) he did very well thought out his elementary school and because I worked at that school we had not one problem with his enzymes or other meds until he was in 5th grade and was hospitalized and when i approached the principle about getting him a home bound teacher that is required by law if your absent from school for 5 days in a row. he the principal said that since it was such a small amount of time that it was not really necessary well maybe it was not but it was my childs right to have an education as well as the rest. We continued to have this problem thought his middle school years (6ht - 8th grades) when he was off school and in the hosp he made up the work himself stayed on the honor roll and kept ups with his class (now that was one determined child) then in the 9th grade he did very well even health wise at the end of the year we went o honors night and he came home with 7 awards one for each class and he was again on the honor roll and carried a 3.77 gpa not bad for a 14 yr old, then in the 10th grade the subjects get harder he was hospitalized again no help he had to make up and keep up he lost all hope and began to hate school his gpa dropped way low and no matter what i did i got no where. he is now in his 12 year and in 2 months he will be finished with high school he has brought his gpa back up to a 3.5 and he is ranked 97th in a class of 246 and he has done this all on his own. it is a really sad thing that these teachers do not see what our children go thought every day... a week ago DJ started coughing up blood and was once again put in the hosp for a few days and came home on iv's so once again he has work to make up. it is a shame that our school system can not see what i children go thought each and every day maybe then they would be more apt to work with the parents...we have just had some very bad experiences with the schools here that i have vowed to not let it happen to another child with CF i will work with the parents to fight the school for the proper education for there child hugss mother of DJ 17 ym/wcf
Guest guest
, Eilish stay's in the same college until year 13 (18years old). So we are lucky there. We wont have to keep going through it all. That's why I posted about it. I know alot of people on this list seem to have problems with Ed. Dept. over silly little things. It made me thankful for what we have.
