Guest guest
My skin is red, itchy, never tans, and I have an abundance of vasculatory vessels in my face. However, that has not stopped me from living life. IMAGE is not everything. Being happy, and responsive to others is what makes life a blast. I grew up before sunscreens were marketed--but Titanium dioxide and Zinc oxide have been used for centuries as cosmetics for the epidermis. Paint= titanium dioxide. Which is what actresses used before more elegant formulations. KEEP out of the sun. It ages your skin, anyway. Get some hats, long sleeves and enjoy, but keep that sun off your face. Perhaps we who have rosacea tend to be more reactive--I know my IgE's are sky high and I have loads of allergies. But for gosh sakes--physicians are not real informed, because we could have something far worse---like melanoma, or basal cell carcinoma. cea is cosmetic--except for the burning. Be grateful you can at least BEGIN to be sun-wise. PHYSICIANS DO NOT KNOW OR CARE ABOUT US--EXCEPT FOR MARJORIE, LINDA SY, DR. NASE, ETC.=== THEY REALLY CANNOT BE EXPECTED TO KNOW WHAT THE COLLECTIVE WISDOM OF THIS SUPPORT GROUP DOES. 'Nuff said. However, I am quite happy with Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Sunscreen and think it calms my skin even over the following days, when I am not outside. Guest guest
Psychologists may not know what rosacea is, but they can help with the psychological side of it. Sometimes the shock of your face changing daily can bring your self-esteem down to a new low where you are depressed. I am not talking everyday depressed, I am talking DEPRESSED. I used to hear about people who suffer from depression and I thought " snap out of it. " But then depression hit me and I believe that it stemmed from my rosacea. Believe me, you cannot snap out of it. I am better now (after seeing a psychologist) and I could care less about my rosacea. I thank God for giving me the strength to go talk to someone about how I was feeling. Tell you what, it did more for me than this group has ever done. For some people, all they need is this group and that is great. Others need extra help over the hump. Do not deter someone from seeking help for their emotional well-being. To clarify, Dr. Nase is a researcher with a PhD in microvascular physiology. Dr. Sy and myself are physicians with medical degrees.
