Guest guest
Dear : I felt so bad for you when I read your message. I really can't advise you on the law suit, but just to encourage you to pursue a different doctor. And maybe a pain specialist is what you need. I saw one for the past two years, who basically gave me the bare minimum to get me by. He felt if my pain level was at a 3-4 that I was lucky, and should just learn to live with the pain. He was giving me 20 mgs. oxycodone three times a day. It wasn't nearly helping my pain, and so I would run short. I would get lectured, as well as putting me on weekly prescriptions, which was pretty embarrassing to have to come in the office every week, like I wasn't capable of taking them as prescribed. If I had something that worked, I wouldn't have any problem. When I ended up in the hospital, they suggested the oxycontin, which worked much better, right away. They suggested I take 20 mg. Oxycontin 2 times a day with oxycodone for breakthrough. This worked for a while, but like you said I seem to get very tolerant very quickly. I had an ERCP in June, and also suffered a perforation in my duodenum (sp?), which was very, very painful. I left s Hopkins with prescriptions for 80 mgs. Oxycontin 3 times a day, with oxycodone for breakthrough. I was finally very comfortable. I changed pain specialist, and found one that I have to drive 45 minutes one way to see, but he is well worth it. He is very understanding, and I'm so sorry I waited so long to change. I had a bad attack last week, and used a couple extra breakthroughs, and instead of lecturing me he changed to give me something new called Actiq lozenges. The pharmacy had to order it, so I haven't tried it yet, but coincidentally someone from PAI had suggested that. It's so easy to have self doubt, when you have doctors telling you these things. So now I will try not to have self doubt and change doctors if I am not being treated with the compassion and respect that I deserve, and that you deserve too! Hang in there...have a great vacation.
