SCD faced very hard challentges for getting acceptance in the Autism Community. We were regarded as wild and dangerous folks who advocated dairy and very few supplements. We faced intense opposition. The only reason that we got recognition is because so many parents became wildly excited about SCD and would not leave their DAN doctors alone until SCD was approved by the DAN doctors. Please share your excitement of SCD;only by sharing our stories can we influence other parents to do this wonderful diet! I am also aware that different children get different rates of recovery with SCD. In the beginning,my daughter responded so much faster to SCD than did my son. It was due to the fact that she is a girl,is four years younger and has a much milder case of ASD than her brother. My son was 17 when he started SCD and I quickly gave up any hope that SCD would help his ASD symptoms... I just expected help for his extreme low weight, However,my son has one advantage: his 100% compliance with the diet. The sister was the opposite:she broke the diet and was able to sneak food about once a week. After 4 years,my son surpassed my daughter and became the sibling that was less autistic. For my family, strict adherence to SCD is more important than gender, age or severity of autism. I used to give free SCD counseling and found out that every child can increase their success with SCD by following certain tips. I hope to post them soon. Guest guest
The only thing that is 100% fixed is dying. The species would not be able to survive without a scrambling of brain genes generation to generation. Otherwise, the way I die, would be the way my child dies, through exact same reasoning processes and similar environmental reaction. andrew wrote: being from the same parents the bodies of children (siblings) and thier biochemistry is pretty much the same but the brains are way more different than yu would think cause there's a special scrambling of the braian genes to produce more profound differences than you would expect body wise unfortuntely in my ignorance i abscribe over emotional to yeast its only logic, insight and observation that has carrried me to where i am today (with some luck) scd is a moving field, its hard to have 100% compliance of something that is not 100% fixed > > > > While a bit of your postings seems a bit off the wall for my > taste, > > I must agree with one statement in particular at 100%... the > yogurt > > (fermented 24 hours) is a God send... Guest guest
Looking for ward to you post of tips. SCD is a lot of work and I think when you see the results of your child coming out of his or her black hole it is difficult to not be excited. My son is not ASD but has had severe emotional problems and when I first saw the awesome little boy that I knew he is come out of the dark child he was I could hardly contain myself. I wanted everyone who has problems in these areas to start the diet. I have learned that everyone for their own reasons is not going to go on SCD. Some have reasons that are reasonable, many are just not ready to give up their god, Junk Food, not even for the well being of their child. I have learned that they each have to make their own choice and live with them even if it is a raging child. Be blessed for all you do here. It is hard not to get emotional when one witnessed a literal miracle happening in their home. I pray that all can have this success. Even our DAN! is excited ( Kucera M.D.). He calls Elaine " Dr. Gottschall " ! She would have loved this compliment! I wish I could have met this lady. I thank her eternally for bringing my daughter back to us. KiKi in just 3 short months on SCDiet (following it by the book), had her two year old visit with her pediatrician. She has gone from the 5% in weight to the 15%! YEAH....she has gone from the 50% in Head Circumference to the 75%! She also went one shoe size bigger! She never smiled, never talked and now she laughs and babbles! Along with many autistic traits vanishing, it is hard not to get excited. Both the DAN! and pediatrician are just amazed. We have done nothing BUT SCD...no other interventions. I do realize that we are all unique here, but the new-comer needs to know that they could be one of us. I hope that they realize that they, need to give this diet a chance before jumping into expensive enzymes, chelation, anti-fungal prescriptions, and expensive gadgets. They may not be needed, and worse may hinder success of the SCDiet as promoted by Elaine. God Bless all, Antoinette (mother of 2 year old celiac/autistic, healing when no other way worked) ----- Original Message -----
