Guest guest
I've heard about the Chinese concept that certain foods can heat your body. Does anyone have a list of the foods that are supposed to cool your body? I swear watermelon must be on this list, because everytime I eat it, my face gets wonderfully pale. Anybody have any ideas on this?
Guest guest
Hi, usually foods that are bitter or sweet (natural sweet such as in melons , not artificial sweets!) are considered " cooling " , other examples are bittermelon, watercress, lotus root, mustard greens, etc. also chrysanthemum tea is supposed to be cooling. supposedly they can quell acne in some people too...when my mom was younger she ate bitter melon all the time every time she sensed a breakout and it worked. i tried it last summer but quit after 2 tries of raw bitter melon because i wasnt seeing results (i know,i gave up way too fast..but i really couldnt stand the taste.) it tastes a little better cooked. funny though, my friend started eating it regularly because his mom suggested it..and has since had no pimples....all his rooommates now do the same and they swear it works. i guess if i could stand the taste (SOOOO incredibly bitter) i'd try it too. i dont know if they can really subdue redness though...ive been eating a LOT of these " cooling " veggies recently and although ive noticed that i definitely dont break out as much, i dont really see a reduction in flushing or general pinkness or anything. but if u want more info check out this website: www.foodsnherbs.com > I've heard about the Chinese concept that certain foods can heat your > body.
