Hi:

Well, the final word came down: I DO have latex allergies. Getting

turned away from surgery by Dr. R. last week may have literally been

a lifesaver.

to all preops: if you get red and itchy from latex gloves, latex

sponges, or get rashes from eating bananas or avocado, please take

the time to check this out!!! I got the serum (blood) test and the

skin test - the skin test is the more reliable of the two. It only

took an hour, my insurance was happy to pay for it, and the peace of

mind: priceless (like the commercial says). Then BE SURE TO LET DR.

RUTLEDGE'S OFFICE KNOW AT LEAST A WEEK BEFORE SURGERY!!! They have to

arrange for a special, latex-free OR, something they cannot do five

minutes before surgery. Which I found out five minutes before

surgery...:-(

So - on to surgery!

Who's going to dinner on the 8th? Would you prefer to go to the

Cattleman, Outback, Red Lobster, or Applebee's? 6 p.m. okay?

Email me directly or post your preferences here. It would be nice to

have a head count, in case we have a very large group and need to

make special arrangements.

I'll post directions to the restaurant and my Durham phone number.

Go Niners and Tenners!

xoxo

Blair
