I just wanted to respond to a comment Marjorie made about not being able to

use the Aveda all-sensitive line. I work at an Aveda spa with 2 other

estheticians and the 3 of us use 90% Pevonia skin care products in our rooms.

Gosh....how to get the point across without being unprofessional. Let's

just say I would never ever recommend most aveda products to someone with

rosacea. There are much better products out there you could be spending your

money on. To dismiss botanical skin care lines on the basis of 1 trial would

really be a shame. They can really be a valuable resource and one that

nature intended.

The only aveda things I'm down with are all oils and singular notes, hand &

foot relief, lip saver, and lip sticks - I love the peppermint. Their skin

care line is average to below average depending upon the item. I personally

cannot use any of their shampoos or conditioners nor most of their styling

products - it makes my scalp itch like crazy.

I hope you will all take away from this message that Aveda is just one of the

Estee Lauder brands and really nothing more. Their products (with those

exceptions) contain a lot of irritating ingredients that at best do your skin

no harm and could potentially irritate sensitive skin.

However, if you are using Aveda products and getting the results you want

carry on. Other brands I would recommend besides Pevonia are Decleor and

Physiodermie. They are from Switzerland and France but available world wide.

My favorite brand of essential oils is Amrita. They have some high tech

aromatherapy diffusers too for office, home & car.

Just for the roll call (in case someone else is using aveda or

considering it):

I use aveda tinted moisturizer happily (for titanium oxide sunscreen,

since I'm sensitive to the chemical ones) and the eye shadow and

lipsticks. The blush, however, isn't workable for me at all (the uneven

distribution could be my fault, but the red bumpiness probably isn't :),

and, well, I mostly just don't use salon quality hair products.

I am glad this was brought up...I actually have an appointment on July 3rd

for a facial (first one). I spoke to the esthetician on the phone and she

said she had lots of clients that had cea and uses the Aveda sensitive

line on them. I am now thinking twice about going to the appt.

I am almost sure they will try to sell me the products as well :)
