So I am on the hunt for a doc who will support me in this long battle with my weight. I guess I will just have to pray about it and hope the good Lord lets me know if this is the right decision or not. Thanks for all the open ears and understanding...Kendra >> Hi Kendra, Go ahead and look for another Dr but in the meantime why don't you write a letter to your first Dr? I did this before going in to see our PCP because I wanted to give her time to digest it. Also sent about 40 some letters I received from MGB'ers, the patient manual and the physician profile. They really did the trick, cuz when we went in (for first) she agreed right away. Then when I went in for me yesterday, she told me that she actually read EVERY letter and all the other info. It's worth a shot. Oh, and I sent them " return receipt requested " as I do everything MGB related. If you'd like, I'll send you (privately) my 2 letters to our PCP. Guest guest
Debbie from IL, What a fighter you are you were so clever in all your dealings with the PCP and the insurance co. Karla, I showed my PCP the statistics from the American Diabetes Ass. That showed that morbidly obese diabetics have only a 2% success rate of losing and keeping off the weight. I asked My DR. how many times do you as a physician recommend a procedure that has that kind of success rate, because in the medical profession that rate would make it not even an option only a failure. I then compared it to the MGB statistics of 98% reversal of diabetes and said which would an intelligent person choose? She had previously asked me to consult with at least two surgeons and find out their complication rates. Best Wishes Marjory
Guest guest
Hi Marjory! Could you email me a copy of that Diabetes Association study?! That could be *really* useful dealing with some of these insurance companies! Thanks!
