Guest guest
Hello ! I'm delighted that you are better and have beaten this condition. Congratulations and don't worry! Just follow your doctors' advice. I think you have been reading some recently-posted messages but, as far as I am aware, certain types of HEREDITARY pancreatitis carry high risks of cancer. In any case, If you were at risk I'm sure you would have been told. Even people with HP, like myself, have to balance the risks against the risks of this very major operation (total pancreatectomy). That's what I'm going to be doing in the next three weeks while I'm " on holiday " in France. (Never felt less in holiday mood!) Every case of pancreatitis is different anyway so all we can do is follow our specialists' advice. Even they can have different ideas among themselves! I would simply rejoice in your recovery. Like you, I depend on a very loving spouse and children to get me through. My husband retired one week ago, by the way....nothing to do with me....he's taught in the same school for 35 years! The last few months have been very difficult since I was diagnosed and my sons will need to be tested as well. I can't believe that all my " stomach " problems throughout my life (I'm 57 now!) have been chronic pancreatitis all along. Take care. Keep well and don't worry! Best wishes to you and to everyone using this message board. Hope you don't mind the occasional Brit using it too!! By the way, does anyone know which doctors will be at the symposium in August? Any from England, for example? Felicity
