I have to agree with Bert regarding exploring ALL your options and

talking to Dr. Sutherland. My daughter Makalem had the Puestow 2 1/2

years ago and we now wish she never had. The whipple and puestow

were the only choices we were aware of then and doctor's preferred

the puestow for her. It had VERY short lived results. Makalem just

had the pancreatectomy last month and the islet cell yeild was very

poor because of the prior surgery. I wish we had known all our

options back then...but thanks to this site and all of the wonderful

people on it, she does once again have hope. Good luck with your
