Becky and I are trying to investigate why a certain mother had

discontinued SCD and returned to the GFCFkids list. Becky assumed

that it was due to bad reaction to the yogurt. I have found old

posts written by that mother whose name starts out with M. These old

posts show that it was not the yogurt that drove this mother away

from SCD,as a matter of fact, this mother wrote that she continued

using the yogurt after she stopped SCD and returned to GF. SHE FOUND

THAT THE GOAT YOGURT WAS MORE BENEFICIAL THAN THE SCD FOR HER KIDS.

I want to thank Becky for telling me that this person wrote 2 years

ago. At that time,I used to monitor the GFCFkids list by making

searches for SCD. Two years ago, this mother was the only mother who

had done SCD/with yogurt and had written posts to the GFCFkids list.

Below is the link to the post that this mother made. You need to

sign in to yahoo and join the GFCFkids list to access this post.

On her GFCFkids post, this mother made a very interesting point.

She observed that her autistic son does fine eating homemade yogurt

but reacts to commercial yogurt. The difference? Commercial yogurt

is not fermented as long and therefore is not lactose free. This

mother suspected that her

autistic son reacts more behaviorally to lactose than casein.

I also have a message on our old list that this mother had fed

dairy(with enzymes)

to her kids prior to starting SCD.

If anyone wants further proof,I will give the link to another post

on the GFCFkids list where this mother explained that it was an

allergy to the fruits that caused her to stop SCD.

I am not at all surprised that this mother continued making yogurt

for her kids. The goat yogurt is a super food. Mothers of ASD

children who have used it do not want to give it up. Jen,one of the

pioneer SCD mothers used to travel from Virginia to NYC every month

to buy a certain

goat yogurt (for use as a starter) before we had a cow dairy free

probiotic.

Have to run and feed my daughter her morning yogurt.
