Guest guest
Hi there, I went to the hospital where I usually go to when I have a pancreatitis attack to have blood drawn to check my PT/INR..i am on blood thinners due to a large blood clot in my jugular...and I had heard previously from my local doctor's lab that they have to send my bloodwork to another hospital to get my lipase tested as they don't have the agents available to test the lipase levels. I asked the lab technician while the nurse was drawing my blood, if that included the bloodwork taken when I go to the ER. Because they always tell me that my bloodwork comes back normal, even though I have pain and then they send me home...This I have dealt with by carrying a letter and other doctors helping me by asking to be contacted... What peeves me is that they are assuming that because my amylase are normal, that my lipase are also (this is what the nurse mentioned when I asked about the bloodwork in the ER). So.....if I ever go there again, I shall suggest they send the bloodwork to the other hospital to be done and not to discharge me until they get those back also because my amylase rarely rise anymore, but my lipase always do. I also found that a couple of doctors at another hospital have sent me home telling me that my bloodwork came back normal, so I musn't have pancreatitis (mentioned in previous posts), only to find that in medical records I had copied and sent to me, my lipase and/or amylase were above normal. They might have not been elevated above 1000, but around 600 I thought was the borderline to be admitted for lipase, or at least asked if I wanted to go home or be admitted. It's just the being told that everything is normal, and making me feel as if they think i'm just after pain meds that gets me, when there was proof that I wasn't making it up... At least now I have proof, and shall mention that if the need arises again. Bye for now,
