Guest guest
Laurie, Forgive me if I already posted something to this effect, but I too have SOD. And CP. And when in the hospital all I ever have is a morphone drip because demerol does nothing for the pain. I have not had 1 bad episode with using morphine in regards to my SOD. I would highly reccommend it. As a matter of fact, I had 1 nurse tell me that the CP patients she deals with would rather have the morphine over demerol because demerol doesn't do the job. I know in some people it can be different. Hope that helps. Guest guest
hey all ! When I went to see Dr. lehman in Indy for my SOD, he gave me opium suppositories ( belladonna ). he told me that they are very addicting and that he would only give me 2 for an emergency to keep me out of the ER. We live out in the country and during the winter it can be a real bear to drive to the hospital during a winter storm. So he told me to use them sparingly. That was one year ago and I still have htem in the fridge. Knock on wood but the pain never got that severe. But if it did, I would not hestitate to use them. I trust his opinion and I think if it was not safe for me to try on an occassional basis then he would not of given them to me. Just my 2 cents, Lily from Ohio Re: Opium suppositories for SOD? Guest guest
Lily, I also was given Belladonna (in pill form) for spasms, but for my pancreas not specifically for my SOD. My pancreas went through such a time that it fluttered alot. It never hurt. Almost felt like I was pregnant again and my baby was moving inside me. Don't get me wrong, this was happening alot for a period of time. Morning, day and night and it got to be heck of annoying especially when it would wake me from sleeping. Even to the point where other people could see my shirt move just a bit when it spasmed. But I didn't take the belladonna long and the flutters (spasms) stopped. In fact, I still have 1/2 a perscription in the cupboard. I found that they always made me so sleepy when I took them that I didn't like to take them much.
