Guest guest
Antoinette is not the only one who gets overly emotional about SCD. Dr Sidney Baker, the most famous DAN doctor, also gave SCD rave reviews during his talk at the DAN conference a few years ago. SCD faced very hard challentges for getting acceptance in the Autism Community. We were regarded as wild and dangerous folks who advocated dairy and very few supplements. We faced intense opposition. The only reason that we got recognition is because so many parents became wildly excited about SCD and would not leave their DAN doctors alone until SCD was approved by the DAN doctors. Please share your excitement of SCD;only by sharing our stories can we influence other parents to do this wonderful diet! I am also aware that different children get different rates of recovery with SCD. In the beginning,my daughter responded so much faster to SCD than did my son. It was due to the fact that she is a girl,is four years younger and has a much milder case of ASD than her brother. My son was 17 when he started SCD and I quickly gave up any hope that SCD would help his ASD symptoms... I just expected help for his extreme low weight, However,my son has one advantage: his 100% compliance with the diet. The sister was the opposite:she broke the diet and was able to sneak food about once a week. After 4 years,my son surpassed my daughter and became the sibling that was less autistic. For my family, strict adherence to SCD is more important than gender, age or severity of autism. I used to give free SCD counseling and found out that every child can increase their success with SCD by following certain tips. I hope to post them soon.
