Guest guest
Hi, Last admission to my local hospital, I had just had my central line taken out due to infection 2 weeks before, and decided would wait until I had another attack before having a portacath put in place. My next attack happened and I went back to my local hospital. In my room, the doctor came in and told me off for coming to that hospital for pain management. They tried to get blood from my veins...they couldn't. All the while nurses were poking needles into my feet trying to get those veins, the doctor was trying to get an artery in my groin unsuccessfully, telling me I shouldn't be at this hospital and should get a doctor who can fix the problem causing my pancreatitis. I lay there crying in pain, then finally the doctor gets an artery in my arm and manages to get some blood. The Lab technicians test for the wrong things..so the doctor doesn't get any amylase or lipase levels. She then comes in to try again for more blood, further telling me not to come to this hospital in future. My nurse just tells me to not worry about anything then leaves after the doctor. Later, on her way home, the doctor comes back in and tells me that I can come here anytime for pain management and that she is sorry for the further pain I was caused in trying to get a vein. Two weeks later I have a portacath put in (done at a different hospital) and I advise the doctor that there are no doctors who can fix my pancreatitis so if I choose to, I SHALL go to that hospital just for pain management as that is all that can be done for me at this point in time and is close for my family to visit. Besides, it is the only hospital that gives me pain medicine in doses straight into my line, which eases the pain better than a pain pump *L* Just venting my frustration to anyone who wants to read and listen *L*
