Hi Becky,

I have had 4 ERCP's and my specialist never said anything to me about a

brushing or biopsys. I am interested to hear what other people have to

say on this matter. On the other hand, I am also no where near needing

a Whipple or other extensive surgery of that nature either.

I have gotten a pancreatic attack after each ERCP. I think thats kinda

" standard " when having that surgery though. I have had stent placement

that has to come out within 3 weeks max as the specialist said that

stents are only left in place longer than that when someone has some

sort of cancer.

I have no other info for you, but someone else on the site most

definatly will.

Good luck,

Sandy

Becky,

I've had quite a few ERCP's and I don't think they ever did

brushings or biopsy's, just took pictures to look for damage

and the birth defect that I have (pancreas divisum), which

can cause repeated attacks of pancreatitis. They did try to

put in a stent once and found out that my ducts were too

small for even the smallest stent they had. Hopefully we'll

have someone here from Texas who can give you a good

recommendation for a doctor.
