Guest guest
, My son Cameron and I are the mom and son in TX with pancreatitis. I am behind on my emails (we are in the boat business and Memorial weekend is a biggie for us!) but please re-ask if you have a question I might help you with.....or I will eventually get around to catching up on my email reading... Cameron was diagnosed at 7 with Acute Idiopathic Pancreatitis, but soon thereafter was changed to a diagnosis of Chronic, as he was in and out of the hospital for the next 2 years just about every 8 weeks or so. Now, he has (what I call) Chronic Pancreatitis with Acute attacks. He has daily discomfort and mild pain.....but has severe acute attacks occassionally. I have pancreatitis (diagnosed a year ago last Sept) from elevated Triglycerides. This just seems to confuse doctors, as our pancreatitis doesn't seem to stem from the same cause nor does it act the same. I tend to have acute attacks, but do not tend to suffer the daily discomfort, unless I am not eating correctly or are stressed. The common denominator for my son and I is that we both went through a very traumatic time with our extended family members and had a complete change in our plans for our immediate family's future life. Long story - but we were farming a large parcel of acreage and had always planned on moving there and retiring...growing old....being sedately happy in the middle of nowhere. Seems brothers decided to go into the tree farm business, filed a power of atty on the grandmother holding the deed (we were paying note on property to her and had been for 16 years) and became the new owners of the land literally overnight...all for the transaction of a crisp $10 bill. We watched our farm house be burnt to the ground...horse barns....rodeo arena....discovered combines missing, tractors sold, hay burnt in the fields and barns where it stood in round and square bales..... anywhooooooooooooo, not a pretty picture or pleasant memory. My son, and I must say I and my husband, were devastated and now find ourselves in what is, so far, a 3 year lawsuit with brothers and mom...... It has not been, nor does it appear to be for awhile, an easy situation. Our house was burnt with the furniture inside....we are still making payments on tractors, implements and combines that were sold for scrap iron. Our income for that year was burnt in the field where it grew. This was not our full-time home, but was a 400 acre farm we spent 10 days or so a month at. Stress, like I said. The doctors have testified on our behalf that our medical situations are a direct result of unfathomable stress. Sorry to ramble......wow....don't know what got me started. Sorry yall.
