,

yes, you can have a pancreatitis attack without raised

amylase and lipase levels. My last two attacks have had

normal or below normal amylase and lipase levels. Check out

the Hopkin's GI website: http://hopkins-gi.org/

Do a search on pancreatitis. In the section on chronic

pancreatitis in the Diagnosis heading under Biochemical

Measurements, it states this fact. This website is one of

the better and more comprehensive information on

pancreatitis, both acute and chronic. I have this section

printed out and keep it in a folder that I take with me when

I go to the ER, so you might want to print this out and

take it to your daughter's Pediatric GI.

Since your daughter's father died from acute pancreatitis,

it's possible that the pancreatitis is caused by hereditiy

or the high triglycerides. If you let us know where you are

located, someone may be in your area and have a pancreas

knowledgable GI for you to send your daughter to.
