Hello all,

We are having a heck of a week! My son's colds just seem more

virulent than ever. They last forever and he won't eat! But we are

persevering with the diet.

I have come across some more information and some of it jives with

the SCD and some does not. The book is Perfect Health for Kids. He

is works out of Boulder, Colorado so is close by for me. He is an

aryuvedic pediatric doc.

Anyway, I resisted looking at his book because the naturopath who

referred us to him, told me that my son had no leaky gut or

allergies and that he just needed to see this doc who would put him

on a scheduled diet of very specific foods. He also uses herbs. At

the time, I just thought the SCD was the best thing for us if we

were going to do diet stuff ....anyway, I just picked up his book.

I thought, maybe there something here that can be of help for me. I

think I could combine his diet for my child's body type with SCD.

The discription of the winter body/personality type fit my son's to

a tee! Constipation being a big problem for these particular kids.

So, I have some questions for y'all.

He states that raw honey is better than pasteurized honey and that

one should never cook with honey. Any body else ever heard of such

a claim? There is some evidence that he states for cooked honey

being harmful to us.

Secondly, I'm wondering about the herbs. Any experience using herbs

to support healing the gut and helping with constipation. One such

herb indicated is Trifala. Never heard of it myself.

Is there any way for us to know about all herbs and whether they are

SCD legal?

Thanks

gwen
