Guest guest
Nature Hi all - " Don't know if my " nature " background will show to you, but it's sure pretty. Well, I had the ER visit of all visits last night. I was driving home on the freeway from my boyfriend's house (about a 40 min drive). I got a really sudden attack - extreme pain, nausea, but also really bad heartburn from my throat to sternum. I got shaky, weak and dizzy - and panicky. So I was able to pull off and call 911. They came immediately and gave me oxygen and checked my blood pressure and pulse, both of which were pretty high. Then they took me to the ER. I've never in my life been in an ambulance. They were very nice. In the ER I tried to explain my condition but all they did was give me an EKG and an IV (no pain meds even though I asked). My heart was fine (as I told them it would be) but I was still in total pain and extremely nauseated. I couldn't even get anyone's attention to get me something for the nausea. I finally did and they gave me some god-awful concoction to drink which they said would help the pain too. It didn't help either and finally I got them to give me Phenergan at least in my IV. For those who have had that, you know how sedating it is. They then told me I was going home. At that point I wanted to since at least I had pain meds there, but I was so sedated and it was 2 a.m. So I asked if I could at least stay a couple hours and sleep off the Phenergan so I could drive. My boyfriend just had shoulder surgery and can't drive. They said no - handed me my clothes and discharge instructions and after I was dressed they wheeled me to the lobby, called a cab to take me to my car and left me there. The cab driver had to wake me up when he got there and I fell asleep again in the cab. He woke me up at my car and I had to drive 25 miles home and I was in no condition to drive. I thought I would never make it. That hospital didn't even do any bloodwork. Unbelievable! They also refused to call my GI doc even though he wants to be called if I'm in the ER. This was a hospital I've never been in before and I hope I NEVER have to go there again. So - that's my latest ER story. All my best to all of you! Guest guest
That even beats my bad ER experiences...and I'm sure they wouldn't have accepted any responsibility if you had had a car accident. I would be writing about that to the Chief of the hospital, and even to the AMA...perhaps they wanted you back as a patient for something they could see and treat...car crash victim
Guest guest
Anita, would you mind if I included this story in my horror story collection? Also, could I forward it to Keri Beck, who is also collecting such stories for publication, to let the public know how badly many of us are treated by this disease?
