Guest guest
Hi Everyone - - I am back!!!!!! : ) I had my surgery July 20th with a and Stella, though I have adopted the 19th as my littermates too! We had A LOT of fun . . ..really confused the Cracker Barrel folks though! hee hee I will always be so grateful for the friends I found from this list! To my big sis , Joyce, Tami (our caretaker!), O., Becky L., Kim, Stella, and Judi, Trish, and Margie (whom I met on Monday) THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Isnt it funny to think we all had a FUN time going to have surgery??????????? My surgery was 29 minutes long, I took quite a while coming out of anestesia, and I was SOOOOO thirsty when I awoke! I was taken to my room and went though a cycle of sleeping and eating ice for a few hours. Once I awoke, I got right up to go to the bathroom and tried to take a walk, but that darn gas hurt when I walked so I went back to bed! I tried a few hours later, and realized the walking helped to disperse the gas, so I was off and running! (I even got up 2 times in the middle of the night to walk by myself while my husband was sleeping - the nurse thought I was a nut!) Dr. R woek me up with his good morning song, said everything was GREAT,and I could leave when I was ready! After I checked out I returned to the hotel, rested for the day, and I think we went out to dinner that very night with other m-g-b-ers! If not it was the next night - we all ate out (soup and juice) several times! We even went to the movies! T. is a nut . . . a lot of fun!!! : ) I'm happy she is my big sis!!! At clinic next Tues (i had surgery Thursday the 20th) I was weighed and lost TEN POUNDS!!!!!!!!!! YEAHHHHH~~~~ I know it was water weight, but hey - its weight thats GONE FOREVER! Dr. R saw how I was flinching and looking in the opposite direction while he as preparing to take my staples out, so he told me to hold on it was going to hurt a lot, then he told me he was done! BEFORE I EVEN KNEW HE DID IT! Then he said, " dont you hate it when Doctors think they are funny? " And Dr R., to answer that - NO!!!!! Thanks SOOOOOOOO much for your wonderful sense of humor - it helped me so much!!!!!! OH - AND MY PRE-OP NURSE SPECIFICALLY TOLD ME TO POST THIS ON THE E-GROUP: (the nurses all know we all talk on here!!!) OK, When you are getting your beautiful gown and stocking, and they are checking you in, they have to do yet another medical history! When it comes to the part when she says is there a possibility you could be pregnant . . . let me clarify that they are not asking for an analytical reasoning of what possibilities lay in the world, let me translate for what they are asking . . ..ARE YOU PREGNANT NOW??????? See, I found this out becasue with my analytical mind when she asked if there was a possibility I said of course there is a POSSIBILTY, but no I am not. Well, she took this to mean that I thought I may possible be pregnant. She called Dr. R while he was in surgery to tell him I could possibly be pregnant and he said NO SURGERY! When she came in my room I started crying! I was in my gown prepared to dance . . and I was devestated. I got so angry that a smart person could possible misunderstand the contex in which something was said . . so my Mom and my Husband were off to catch Dr. R as he came out to report to his patients' family in the waiting room so they could convey what I meant. In the meanwhile I told the nurse this was ridiculous - i am a math teacher and if she asks if there is a possibility - all I can say is yes., There is also a possibility the building could collapse. But I reminded her of my answer : " Yes, there is a possibility I guess, but NO I AM NOT!! " She understood how SURE I was that I was not pregnant, called Dr. R. and came back to tell me I was back on! When Dr. R saw me in pre-op room as well as at clinical, he asked if I decided that I was not pregnant! GEEEEZ! So, as a summary to pre-ops, be sure you are not pregnant before you leave, and DO NOT TAKE THE WORDING LITERALLY AS I DID! They are not interested in the possibility or probability of things, they only want to know if you are pregnant! Perhaps the nurses will now ask the question in a much simpler way, like " Mrs. Lee, are you pregnant? " but if not, now you all know the translation when a nurse says, is there a possibility! Sorry this has been so long, but I am following my nurses orders to post the whole ordeal, maybe it will save some undue stress on someone else! I was SOOSOO upset when she said it was off! Thank God Dr. R understood an analytical mind!!! : ) I Love you all, and Dr Rutledge . . . you will always have a special place in my heart . . and I'll be sure to let you know when I decide to be pregnant for real! : ) ( Though not for at least 2 years!!!!!) L. mgb 7-20-00 whew . . I never thought I would be able to put a date after my name!!! YIPPEE If any pre-oppers need me as a contact, i would be more than happy to talk and tell you my whole story!@ E-mail me privately at TeacherGator@...
