Hello all,

I am sorry I have been absent lately, I have so much going on right

now. I have great news. My insurance company received the letter of

recomendation for surgery from Sutherland on Tuesday morning and they

approved me on Wednesday. I think they were as eager to be rid of the

monthly hospital trips as I was. So my surgery is scheduled for Nov.

17th, that is a Monday, and I have to be there for pre-op stuff on

friday the 14th. I am so everything, excited, scared, relieved,

nervous... the list goes on. Dr. Sutherland said that normally if he

can, he tries to preserve the stomach and intestine junction, but

with my long history of obesity, and family history of type two

diabetes that he would not do that, that perhaps if possible he would

also decrease the size of my stomach a little more than normal. I am

hoping that if I can get well enough after the surgery to become more

active again, I will be able to lose some weight and thereby take

some of the work off those precious islets. I think that will really

help with the potential diabetes and complications.

I have missed you all so much, have been in a couple of times to

read, but haven't had time to post. It seems just when I have enough

good days to have second thoughts about surgery, the pain comes back

to reaffirm my decision.

Glad to hear from Bert again, you have been in my thoughts often. I

am so glad to hear that you are on your way to recovery.

Heidi, sorry to hear you were battling withdrawl. That is a pain you

can't really describe to someone who hasn't experienced it. When I

have had it before, it nearly drives me out of my mind, I feel for

you girl, and hope you are better now.

More good news, my insurance coverage for the surgery is excellent, I

have a 100$ co-pay, and they cover everything else at 100%. Plus they

pay gas mileage, 110$ per day for motel for my husband, and 50$ per

day for food for the duration of my stay, and for any return visits

necessary up to 1 year post surgery! God really does provide. My

husband and I have been in a financial low like we never have been

before, and I just go to God in prayer, and he never fails to give me

an answer of some kind. I will keep all of you in my prayers and hope

you all will do the same.

Never give up hope,

Keri Beck
