Guest guest Posted June 21, 2002 Report Share Posted June 21, 2002 thank you to all who wrote for support. here is what has happened. went to urgent care day 2 of pain..prescrobed minocycline and clonodine. day 3....dermatologist. at this point the swelling was sever, could not blink or talk that good. redness and burning intense. prescribed more minocycline and sulfur (did not us the sulfur) day 4. extreme pain. emergency call to derm (from my dad). told dad i could be re-evaluated in a week. pissed dad off...threatened to sue. prescribed prednisone over phone. DID NOT take prednisone. i told them i do NOT take steroids. this angered my father even more that they are just pill popping. DAY 5. ER visit to urgent care. pain unbearable. burning, swelling. at this point i'm vomiting. have not slept or eaten in 5 days. weak and dizzy. he prescribes vicodin. gets on phone with chief of dermatology...says rosacea doesn't do this... day 6...no sleep dizzy, swelling so bad i can barely talk, pain incredible, deep red all over face, vomiting. my brother and father put me in car to take to ER. just after leaving i vomit fluid and pass out. drive back home and call 911. ambulance comes. i was extremly dehydrated...couldn't eat for 6 days....had a hard time breathing because of the swelling, could not answer simple questions. the oxygen they gave me helped. don't remeber what they were saying...that i was symptimatic or something. something was at 121 just laying down...guessing my heart rate. blood pressure was to high, blood sugar i think they said was 90...don't know if that is normal or not. they could not take my temp orally, could not talk hardly at all now, mouth swollen shut. my body sucked two IV bags dry, 3 shots of demerol still did not take my pain away. thankfully they put me out and let me sleep in the ER. doctor talked again with dermatology, then neurology. came back with the theroery of TMJ. they prescribed valium, but choose not to wake me up and let me sleep. when i woke they gave me valium, fell asleep. quietly moved me to observation room without waking me. woke up talking better, gave me more demerol, more valium. i ended up begging to go home. had been there until night time (arrived at 7 am). talking better, they had me eat some jello. he stuck with the TMJ diagnosis...which must be really aggravating the rosacea. they let me go home and said i could come back if pain uncontrollable. have an appointment in neuro on monday. derm appointment yesterday, gave cleocin t antibiotic. eating, finally went to the bathroom. i know nothing about TMJ. someone said its caused by poor posture. i have kyphoscoliosis and am in a wheelchair. maybe thats it. my swelling is down and i sleep all the time, mercifully. taking: vicodin, valium, minocycline, clonodine, aldactone, cleocin T. dad has calmed down, still furious with derm dept. for not taking it seriuosly and refering me if they don't know the problem. so thats it so far. any thoughts?
