Guest guest
Dear and to all it may concern. In the 1950's Dr. Haas was healing children who where literaly starving to death, brains and all. Thanks to malabsorption sndrome(s), back then they ALL where classified as " celiac " . All these kids had the symptoms of what today would be called Autism Spectrum Problems. Go figure! This is why Elaine knew that this would work for ASD kids. HE HEALED OVER 600 kids with a monodisacharide diet. Back then it was rather limited. We think we got it bad? Imagine how Elaine felt, when her daughter and her where sent home from his office with this small list of foods to eat. This is one of many reasons Elaine got smart and educated so that she could help those to heal this SCD way and broaden our horrizons....so that we could eat more wonderful monodisacharide easy to digest foods. And it was not me who doesn't like the protease. IT was ELAINE. I discovered this when the stuff made my gut BURN and HURT and it caused KIKI to be in distress bringing back her diarrhea crises. Elaine didn't want anybody using protease who had damaged injured intestines. This included most ASD children, because they wouldn't be ASD unless their intestines where injured. Plus in Dr. Haas day (I have been reading his book) they discovered that protein digestion wasn't compromised anyway. That once the vicious cycle is broken absorption of digested food items goes back to normal rather fast. My conclusion has been not to use it. Guest guest
Take care of yourself... read Dr. -McBride's book (another SCD Book, yeah ), and rest in knowing you are among friends and don't have to try so hard to convince... you are doing what's right for your own family... we get that; and you'll have more time for them. Guest guest
I am trying to help the new commer who come here broken hearted like we did......with a " starving " child in their arms that has dissapeared like our little KIKI did into the depths of autism. Thanks to a injured gut with a vicious cycle that is not broken yet, that continues to cuase the autistic spectrum problems. Some need to know this stuff...not just the old timers, that already do. Many are on this serve and read this informaiton. It is for all not just for one. That is why it is called a LIST SERVE. This morning KIKI came down with a glowing smile on her face. I just cry everytime this happens. She was so sick before. GFCFSF and grain free and sugar free and paleo...and all the rest... " free " just didn't work. Today her SMILE shows us all that we are on the right path. I truly understand the JOY Dr. Haas had (with over 600 kids), when he saw a broken child that was straving in their own body, " come back " and he talks about this JOY in his book. No wonder why Elaine felt it her duty to help him (after his death) to continue saving kids....she has now saved thousands the SCD way. Antoinette the messanger...keeping the message alive and for all who want to hear it.
