Guest guest
never noticed DS people having to take them. How could that be if RNY'ers need them? >>>>>> Sherry, RNYers have most all of their duodenum bypassed which is why they need B12....we dont! Guest guest
Actually, RnYers don't have enough stomach tissue to make the B-12 precursor " intrinsic factor " . Our stomachs have enough surface area left that we make our own B-12, and the RnYers don't. Then the absorption is better, as Judie pointed out below! Guest guest
I don't understand the B12 thing myself but I was told years ago as a hypoglycemic I need B12 since I am bound to have a deficiency in it. As a person that needs to monitor their intake and totally avoid sugar I am on a high protein low carb diet. No way am I going to be able to maintain high protein without meats and cheeses. As for the vegan diet - not my bag - I prefer to avoid extremes. My diet is tailored to suit my bodies needs not a mental meat thing. I'm sorry that you didn't understand all my points in my last post. Perhaps the reason was technical -- I interspersed requotes from the article, which were in paragraphs identified with quotation marks, with my comments. If it's the content of my reply that confused you, don't worry about it -- I'm honestly not looking to change your belief system. For me, raw food is certainly healthy, but taking it to the extreme doesn't work for me, personally or professionally.
