Guest guest
Good evening Esther, Welcome to the PAI. After I was hospitalized with Diabetic Ketoacidosis in March, I came home as a brittle diabetic with complete loss of pancreatic function. They said it was just calficification and scar tissue, too, along with two pseudocysts. My doctors also haven't really said much about it either, concern has been more on the status of the remaining pseudocysts. All they have said is to make sure that I continue using my enzyme supplements and that I don't have to adhere so strictly to such a low fat diet anymore as I used to. I am able to eat many of the higher fat foods that I avoided before without any pain or suffering afterward, provided that I take my enzymes. Is your husband a type 1 or type 2 diabetic? There are tons of diabetic recipes on the internet. If you search through a search engine like Google, you can pull up lots of websites that concentrate on diabetic recipes and meals. Many diabetic patients who are trying to low-carb use the recipes in Adkins Diet, or Dr. Bernstein's Diabetic Solutions. Does your husband still experience any pain? Is he taking enzyme supplements, and what kind of insulin program is he on? If we knew a little more about his situation, some of us may be able to provide some answers or know where you could find them. Please let us know how we can help. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SE & SW Regional Representative PAI, Intl. In fact he just came home from the hospital monday after being told he has less than a 10th of the pancreas left. Plus he's diabetic and I'm trying to find non fat, non sugar recipes.
