I just wanted to share my experience with you. I have attempted numerous BCP's over the years both for contraception and also to restart menses, always resulting in acute attacks including elevated enzymes. I tried about three different brands of regular dose pills, two mini pills (including the new lowest dose available), and progesterone only formulas(including pills and depo-provera). They finally gave up and decided that my menses weren't as important as my pancreas' health. FYI the menses returned on their own when I was in better health YAY! I also have increased pain, nausea, and vomiting both during menstruation and also during ovulation. I am now on depot-lupron, a once a month injection that shuts down the hormones in your body, simulating menopause. I have had four shots of the six month trial approved by insurance (over 500$ each) and I have definitely noticed a difference. They have decreased the incedence of severe attacks and also have improved my day to day pain level. When my six months are up, we are going to decide whether to remove my ovarys as a permanent help. Not a cure, but like I said it helped, and every hour/day/week less of pain is a treasured moment. I wish you all the best!
