Guest guest
>>I hadn't even gotten my machine, and she had no idea which one I would be getting. She just said, " it's not that hard, just read the instructions and call the 800 # on the box if you have any problems. That may not sound like much, but I was getting this plus my home PCA instructions and new med schedule all thrown at me at once trying to get me discharged to my apartment alone. I was a basket case by the time it was all over. Diane H TN State Rep Diane, Your confusion and muddled mind with all that going on at once is understandable! I wonder why they do it that way? That's exactly what happened to me the morning I was discharged after my DKA, the nurse was in the room trying to teach me how to inject myself and said she wouldn't leave until I practiced on an orange and proved I could do it. Meanwhile, my lunch was sitting in the corridor, getting cold, and I was starving. Another nurse popped in with all these medication schedules, and the nutritionist was there trying to tell me what to eat now that I had diabetes. There was a myriad of information being thrown at me from all directions and no time to absorb it! So I said, the heck with this " inject the orange " business, and I took the syringe, grabbed a pinch of loose skin on my leg (I didn't have any fat to work with at 105 pounds, haha, stuck the needle in and pushed the plunger. On the way home in the car, I went over the bundle of instructions and papers and couldn't remember a thing of what they'd told me! Fortunately Bob had been in the room and was able to remember all everything. I'm glad you had some friends who were able to get you all straightened out. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
