Guest guest
I talked to Timo on IM this evening. Anne is still very ill. Has a massive infection of the lower bowel. Surgery is not an option. He thinks it started some time ago because she had complained of pain for several days before it got so bad she could not empty the bladder or bowels.. Still has a stomach pump and IV's. They are running out of veins, so are considering the leg veins. I suggested he ask about the Garshon. It bypasses the stomach. Ralph had one for about a month, while the hole in his stomach was healing. Please keep them on your prayer list. This is really serious. Barb -- "I'll lean on you and you lean on me and we'll be okay." Dave s

Guest guest
Barb, I am so sorry to hear about Ann. Concerning the iv's, Deb has the same problem. Very fine vains and after about 1 to 4 hrs they blow up on her. I know when we go to the Hosp, I have them do a Central Line now in her chest. By doing that, there are no more needles. They can give or take from it and it stops all the pain of the gross about of needles they use. One time I actually had to use my Power of Attoney for Deb at Wake Forrest to stop the Nurses from sticking her. There ego's wouldnt let them stop because they just knew they could find one if they kept trying. So after the third stick, I told the nurses to get out of the room, they were done, and to send a Doctor in. I demanded that they do the central line and after that, she was in good shape. There is nothing worst than having very find vains and keep getting stuck. I hope they will do that for her. Guest guest
Barb, I am so sorry that Anne is going through all of this. If you would, please ask Timo to ask the doctors if they can put in a central line. I had run out of all veins in my arms back in May and still don't have any that can have an IV in them without blowing the vein. When I was last hospitalized in Sept., the doc's put a central line with a triple lumen in my neck artery. The surgery is done while you are awake and took only 30 minutes. It sounds scarry but it is not painful at all. No more acclusions and blown veins and I had no more sticks, pokes or torture after that. 1 of the lines was used for IV, 1 was used for drawing blood and 1 was left for any problems that might occur so that they could push whatever medications they needed immediately without any further problems. It's just a suggestion. I hate to hear that she is going through so much pain and hurt. Guest guest
HI, I don't know if you have this already but thought that ya'll might want it so that Anne and Timo could receive cards or phone calls showing them that we are thinking about them. I have all the cards that were sent to me during all 5 hospitalizations and having them on the walls of the rooms really helped cheer me up. Anyway, here is Timo and Anne's address and number at the hospital.
