Guest guest
To try and combat his depression was given a drug called Seroxat, the effects were horrendous, and I was desperate about his mental state, he felt he wanted to commit suicide. He was only on the pills for 2 days when I had to get emergency advice and was told to take him off immediately. This Sunday we have a programme on BBC about the bad effects of this drug, and families tell of suicides and self harm attributed to this drug alone. What are they doing to us............. We will watch with great interest. JILL

Guest guest
Jill, I'm sorry to hear that had such a bad reaction to the seroxat. It's good that you acted quickly to discontinue it. Rob has had bad reactions to SSRI type anti-depressants too, and I understand that many MSA patients do not tolerate them well. Rob now takes Effexor, which is similar to but slightly different from an SSRI and he seems to be able to tolerate it well. I'm not sure what it's called in the UK. Guest guest
, I think it's wise to note that the article you posted regarding Seroxat is essentially an advertisement by personal injury lawyers looking for clients. SSRI type antidepressants are controversial and certainly not appropriate for everyone. Many MSA patients do not tolerate they well. It is, however, important to get medical information from medical sources. Guest guest
Carol, Just for the record, what I was trying to let Jill know was that she was not alone. She already knew of the effects and I wanted to point out that she wasnt alone. She had already talked to a doctor as she or anyone else should but it gets back to " side effects " of Medicine and what they dont tell you. Here is some more articles on that drug just in case your interested. http://society.guardian.co.uk/mentalhealth/story/0,8150,764193,00.html http://www.observer.co.uk/magazine/story/0,11913,706297,00.html Best regards, " tenacity's man " > >Reply-To: shydrager >To: <shydrager > >Subject: Re: Seroxat. >Date: Wed, 9 Oct 2002 08:31:16 -0400 > >, > >I think it's wise to note that the article you posted regarding Seroxat is >essentially an advertisement by personal injury lawyers looking for >clients. > >SSRI type antidepressants are controversial and certainly not appropriate >for everyone. Guest guest
Jill, I'm afraid that the doctors are doing the best they can with the knowledge that they have about the medications that are available. What works for one person might have a terrible consequence in another. Don't give up the ship. I don't think that they are trying to do anything but to make feel better. I'm so sorry that he went through this but I am glad that you caught it and knew what to do. Just take one day at a time and you need to commend yourself for knowing that something was wrong very soon and doing something about it quicly. How is he .... and YOU... doing now.
