In our local paper today there is an article about " the first use of

gene therapy for treatment of PD. " Anyone know about this and if it

offers any hope for MSA as well?

The research if being done by a Dr. During and a Dr. Kaplitt, and the

article suggests that in addition to helping with Parkinson's symptoms,

the therapy may also " slow the destructive pae of the disease. "

These two doctors are with a private research firm Neurlogix, Inc.

Jerry,

Here are some articles about that sort of thing, but I tend to discount

them unless there is an actual published study. All in all, it sounds

like our best hope, but it could be outlawed in the

USA if people do not talk to their Senators about outlawing cloning as

that is a form of cloning (SCNT). Granted it would never produce a baby

under present law, but some Senators still say it can be done.

Note - this is new - they have stopped NIH from printing Journal

articles - sounds like censorship to me

I could not find a reference to the work you wrote about - what

newspaper was it in?

Take care, Bill Werre
