Guest guest
Hi Marge, Welcome to the group, and sorry you have to be here. I am caregiver to my husband, Jeff, who was dx'd (diagnosed) with probable MSA in 2001. The management of the OH symptoms can be tricky in MSA patients because BP does elevate when the patient is lying down. So it takes some trial and error to find the right combination of medication and diet that will hopefully bring it under control. One thing that helped Jeff tremendously was physical therapy, specifically pool therapy. The water puts pressure against the body in equal distribution and has a tendency to normalize blood pressure. Unfortunately, we went the medication route exclusively until Jeff symptom's got so bad that the doctor finally recommended Physical therapy. He has felt much better in the past two weeks than a long time. And we have reduced his dose of florinef successfully so that he does not getthe BP spikes anymore. Hang in there, Maciejewski (Pronounced ma-je-ski)
