Guest guest
Hi, it has been months since I have talked to the list since we just moved from California to Wisconsin. Before I left CA, my neurologist as well as the Parkinsons Institute were discussing with me the possibility that I had MSA. Anyway, so far the doctors I have seen in Wisconsin have been terrible. The first neuro I saw was from Madison University and could only talk about how California doctors think WI doctors are "backwoods country bumpkins" and I received a very short exam and he said he didn't want to get involved. So he referred me to the most awful Movement Disorder Specialist I have ever met, in fact the worst doctor I have ever met. The short of it was he sent a nurse in to ask the questions. He came in and wouldn't talk to me and gave me less than a 10-minute perfunctory exam. I doubt he even knew my name because he never addressed me by it. He walked out and came back in and said" After my exam I believe your symptoms are psychosymatic and you are faking it." This after never talking to me and I am sure he never glanced at the records I brought with me. This was at Marshfield Clinic which I was told was supposed to be good. But if this is the best Wisconsin has to offer I regret coming here. After all that, my question is if anybody on here from Wisconsin can recommend a good neurologist in the Madison area or north of it. I live in the Wisconsin Dells area. And if there are any groups that meet anywhere near me. If anybody has any positive information on doctors I would sure appreciate it. Thanks and God Bless, Debbie

Guest guest
Debbie, What a horrible experience. To be ill and have a doctor write you off as being in la la land and not to even have the decency to call you by name is deplorable. Even if he doesn't know what is going on and thinks you are nuts, which you know better than to believe, he should have at least said, " Dorothy you are in the land of oz. " (Which might just very well be true having moved from CA to WI... LOL). I wish that I knew a good MDS there as I know what it is like to be sick and have some doctors that will not even try to put the pieces of the puzzle together. It is frustrating. Hang in there and vent as needed. I'm sure with all the folks on the list, someone will know where you can go to find a doctor that will work with you and help you to feel better. Guest guest
You're not that far from Minnesota. The Mayo Clinic has Philip Low, a phenomenally bright neurologist that specializes in dysautonomias. He's worth the trip. Colette
