My body gets HOT to the point of sweating ... then horrible painful cramping .. then after that .. continued diahrea until the offending food is out of my system. The oddest things make me dump these days. BQ ribs for example. Even small bites. I suspect it might be the heavy sugar content in the BQsauce, this in combination with the high fat content of that particular meat?? Guest guest
Mandy Sounds more like either an allergic reaction or something else to me. I've never gotten dizzy or had tingling in my arms and legs when I dump. Dumping makes you feel really awful like you're going to be sick or it's going to leave you very quickly from both ends (forgive the description but it's true). Sometimes it just leaves you feeling really nauseous for about an hour or two and you WANT to throw up but you can't. Others you get chest pains like you're going to have a heart attack and you end up throwing up anyway. Also dumping usually occurs within the first 15 minutes after you eat too fast or eat something you're not supposed to.....regardless, it doesn't sound like you dumped, it sounds like something else. Guest guest
That is how it felt for me. I also had terrible diarrhea. It lasted about 20 minutes and I thought I was going to pass out. I have only done it once but once was enough!!!!!! Candi Possible dumping? Hey all, Tonight I had a strange episode. Quite scary! I ate some nuts. (I've been craving salt.) Chewed em to mush. I ate about a dozen. About an hour or so later I got really dizzy. My heart started to beat really fast and I couldn't catch my breath. I was so nervous I started to cry. I had pins and needles in my hands, my legs and my face. I layed down for a bit and felt better. About 20 minutes or so... My question is, did I dump? If that's what dumping is I'm gonna watch myself from now on! That was SCARY! Happy Holidays! ~Mandy Post Op Lap RNY w/ Gallbladder Removal December 2, 2003 333/299/175 Dr. Herron Mercy Medical Center, NY

Guest guest
Mandy, the first thing I thought about was an allergic reaction. I've had quite a few, although they were from medications. The 2 dumping episodes I had were within 20 minutes, diarrhea, vomiting, and yuck....just wanted to lay down and pull a blanket over me. Those pins and needles really do sound like an allergic reaction. Lasted about 1/2 hour tops. I am curious so hear if others have had your symptoms with dumping?? Guest guest
Hi Mandy, reading that the symptoms didn't spring up until an hour after you ate the nuts doesn't sound at all like dumping or an allergic reaction. Both of these things are likely to happen within minutes of ingesting the offending food. My first thought was that you were experiencing an anxiety attack, especially with the fear and crying that took place. Not sure if you are familiar with anxiety and/or panic disorder, but I have dealt with them and consequently been medicated for them for years and what you described sounded so much like a more severe anxiety attack. Guest guest
Wow, I didn't think of anxiety, but Toi, you're right, an allergic reaction would have been much, much sooner than an hour. I too have panic attacks and often does feel like pins and needles. Lots of good ideas on this site. Joan LAP RNY 11/18/03 Dr. Higa, Fresno, CA 282pre-op/275surg/242/140 Re: Possible dumping?
