Guest guest
Hey gals, So good to see fellow Minnesotans on here! I was beginning to think I was the only one in this lovely state getting this surgery. I am 28, from the N.W. 'burbs, and six months into braces (but, sadly, not a MAC girl). Hopefully, I will have the surgery within the next year. Anywho, Carleen, congratulations on your successful surgery, and here's hoping for a great recovery as well. I have heard of your surgeon; my childhood-dentist (from up in Dulut') is the president of the Dental Association of MN and recommended him as the best in the biz'. I was referred to a different O.S. by my ortho. (Dr. Abdul Rahimi), but am still torn as to if I should use Dr. Omlie instead, due to his track record!! I still am a ways out from surgery, but since it was already pre-approved via my surgeon, I am a little apprehensive about having to re-submit with a different surgeon. It seems with insurance companies, you are always walking on thin ice. 'Til I get closer to a surgery date, I will just sit here willing my teeth to move faster. This is definitely not a process for the impatient!! Mindy: Best of luck to you on your upcoming surgery; let us know how everything turns out! Cori: I guess we have ways to go to the finish-line; it sounds like we might be having our surgery around the same time! Let me know if you decide on a surgeon, or if you have been referred to one yet by your ortho. I am curious! Let's keep in touch; it was great to see people in the area on this site! ~ > > > > Wow, you do swell and bruise alot! Your pics are great! Guest guest
Yea for MN girls, mac or not! It's nice to have others in the same area going through this. My hubby was saying we should have a get together sometime, at a restaurant for lunch maybe. Smartass he is, the next thing out of his mouth is, " or maybe a Jamba Juice would be more fitting? " Ugh... At least he's being really supportive through all of this. Cori > > > > > Wow, you do swell and bruise alot! Your pics are great! Guest guest
Hi, ! I was getting caught up on the board and realized that I didn't get to your message before! Sorry! Wasn't ignoring you!! I'm from the NW 'burbs, too! We're going to have to have a MN Surgery Girl Convention or something... Time is going to fly for you--surgery will be here before you know it. Being on the other side of it is great because I feel like the boulder is rolling even faster towards my brace-free face. Hopefully it won't be more than six months! So you are from Duluth originally? I'm from Virginia and spent many, many shopping weekends down there! My sister went to St. Scholastica. I know a few people from Duluth. We should chat, too! Seriously, I'm envisioning a Jamba Juice/Zip-n-Squeeze event (even though yours and Cori's surgeries are a ways a way). Dr. Omlie is soooo great...I'm so thankful I ended up with him. He's so caring and so personable...very humble, too. You'd never know he's " famous " by the way he acts around people. I wonder if you could just float the idea of switching surgeons by your insurance company to see what they say? I'm sure the other guy is just fine, too, but you know...you couldn't go wrong with Dr. O. My husband and I joke that I have a little crush on my OB/GYN after going through the childbirth experience. Now we've added my ortho and OS to that list. HA! They've all been just so nice. Take care--stay in touch-- Carleen > > > > > Wow, you do swell and bruise alot! Your pics are great! Guest guest
Hi Carlene and . My name is and like you Dr. Omlie did my surgery. I am almost 23 weeks post-op and have had few problems. The only thing that I have to complain about is the tightness in and around my chin. I had both jaws done along with a bone graft to lower my top front teeth. I am still wearing braces and my Ortho says that today's appointment will be my second to last one before the braces come off. I was wearing my braces for 23 months before I had my surgery. I currently reside in the Southeast metro and had my surgery in Edina. Good Luck to the other Minnesotans who have a surgery scheduled. Guest guest
Or we could do a blender party and you could show us the ropes so we're ready when our time comes! I am out there aways, however on Friday when I was at the ortho I forced some answers out of him (as would attest to, he can be in and out of the chair in record time leaving you not much time for any face to face time). He said I'm doing great and am ahead of schedule! (i was amazed to get much out of him so i didn't even ask HOW FAR ahead...). So maybe I'm not quite as far away as I thought! How awesome would that be??? As much as anyone doesn't want to have surgery, if you NEED to, having it be sooner is a VERY good thing! fellow MN mac girl, Cori > > > > > > Wow, you do swell and bruise alot! Your pics are great!
