Guest guest
I had upper and lower surgery and I'm not going to lie, it was really hard for me to breathe. However, my septum was bent during surgery, so one of my nostrils wasn't functioning very well. There was only one night, 2 days post-op that i really freaked out. My nose was plugged up and I woke up paniking and called my dad on our house phone from my cell phone, afraid that walking would make me loose my breath even more. He brought me same nasal spray and that really helped. The next day I got a humidifier, which also helped a lot. I also found that cleaning your nose with Q-Tips in hydrogen peroxide helped, since i was not allowed to blow my nose. Just walking upstairs in my house would get me winded and I would have to sit down and catch my breath. The splint is what made it hard to breath, but you can get some air in through your mouth, just not much. Sorry, I'm not trying to scare you, but it's better to be ready for the worst. Make sure you have all the supplies you'll need and good luck! > Until my SURGERY!!! I tried going to sleep a little while ago and > that wasn't going to happen. Guest guest
, I had both upper and lower 2 weeks ago and I had no trouble with the breathing. They will have a tube in your nose during the surgery, which they take it out in the recovery room but you will not know it! (they say 99% of the people never know when it was removed but they have to make sure you can breathe on your own before they take it out). After that comes out they give you an oxygen mask, from which you can breathe through your mouth. I had no trouble at all breathing through my mouth, just had to keep wiping the blood off (ugh!!). I never really experienced pain except for the stupid steroid or potassium or whatever the heck burning IV injection they gave me. Your nose will bleed quite a bit from having the breathing tube down it, and you have a very sore throat a few days afterward. I didn't really get the sore throat until maybe 3 days after the surgery and my surgeon told me that this was due to the tube. In a couple of days the sore throat was gone. I'm doing great after my surgery on 7/28-- I went to a concert 5 days afterward, and I went back to work after 1 1/2 weeks. Good luck!! We'll all be thinking about you and see you when you come out on the other side!! W. and > Until my SURGERY!!! I tried going to sleep a little while ago and > that wasn't going to happen.
