Guest guest
OMG... Maybe I will grow too? I so long for just 1/2 inch.. so I can truly be 5'. shh.. I am really 4 ft 11.5 !!! K - Ft Lauderdale, Fl Post Op - Open RNY 12/2/03 257/230/115 ( I am short.. 5' ) 27 lbs gone forever!!!! I've grown????? Very strange but I measured myself today and I have grown an inch? I have always been 5' 2 3/4 " . Today I measured in at 5' 4 " . How strange. I wondered if this had happened to anyone else? I don't know if I am standing straighter because of the weight loss (course I was the same height when I was thinner) or maybe the yoga I have been doing is stretching my spine somehow? Guest guest
yeppers! Showed a growth of nearly an inch at my 1 yr appointment. Doc suggested that it could be because, 1) my spine is not as compressed since I lost the weight and, 2) my posture has much improved. Starting at 5'1 " and growing to 5'2 " made me dowright giddy. Guest guest
, the things we wish for.......this really had me laughing... " just 1/2 inch " . From what I hear, this happens to some people. Two explanations seemed plausible to me: standing up straighter, and less weight on our spine which was compressed with overweight. Someone here also said, maybe yoga was helping. Joan LAP RNY 11/18/03 Dr. Higa, Fresno, CA 282pre-op/275surg/242/140 Re: I've grown????? OMG... Maybe I will grow too? Guest guest
, I hear your problem! My mom & one sister wears a size 10, and Mom started wearing men's shoes. haha There is the reverse problem too. I'm a size 6 (shoe size that is....), and with a very large body, my mom thinks I'll topple over! But had to start wearing 7's as my feet were fat, then wide shoes (absolutely no cute styles), and even those hurt my feet. When I started losing, my feet lost really fast, and my shoes are so comfy, once again. Joan LAP RNY 11/18/03 Dr. Higa, Fresno, CA 282pre-op/275surg/242/140 RE: I've grown????? Guest guest
Losing weight from the soles of your feet? Top of your head? LOL, I dunno! I know my overall shoe size is a complete size smaller and the docs explaination to my height increase makes sense. Hmmmm... now that I'm thinking about it, since we tend to malabsorb calcium maybe our bones become less dense and as the pockets compress we loose height, like old women. I wouldn't think that would be your problem at only 6 mos post op.
