Guest guest
Hi guys, Had my surgery Tuesday August 3rd (upper+lower) and I came home from the hospital on Sunday. I was in ICU for two nights and then I spent another 3 nights on the surgical floor. It was tough. Much worse than I expected. Alot of people on here have had this sugery and said it was a breeze, but while I was in there, I honestly wanted to die. I really don't like my oral surgeon. I didn't like his personality from the first time i me him when I was ten. He was just very cold, uncaring, but I went to him anyway because he has a great reputation as a great surgeon. As scary as it sounds, I didn't see him again for 9 years, two weeks before my surgery date, which was my one and only consult/appointment with him. The next time I would see him was lying on the operating table. Anyways, he was really nasty. He came into my room the day after surgery, (I wasn't doing well after having an allergic reaction to morphine)and he told me I was being lazy and didn't want to get better. I had a really tough time breathing after surgery, my nasal passages were totally blocked and my lips so swollen I could barely open. Then he pulled a huge rubber tube thing from his pocket and without any warning, shoved in up my nose and down my throat. When I was crying and telling him it hurt, he coldly said " no it didn't. " and left. He came in the next morning. His tube idea totally backfired because when I swallowed everything just went up the tube and out my nose. He asked me what I had had to eat and I told him not much because of the tube issue. He got really mad and agin, without warning, ripped the tube out of my face and hauled me out of bed and started dragging me and my IV pole down the hall. He was literally shouting at me " You are going to walk around this block ten times today! " Then my Mom came aroung the corner after going to get a coffee and he pointed at her and yelled " And you! You have alot of work to do! " It was pretty scary. I am just so glad it's over. I saw Dr. A$$hole yesterday at my first post op appointment and he was all friendly. I don't know... he's pretty freaky, and his bedside manner sucks, but I think he did a good job on my jaws. Now that it's all done, and all the crap that happened I have no regrets that I had it done. I am happy with my appearance. I see potential past all the swelling, drool and boogers. The only advice I have for people considering it is obvious: choose your surgeon carefully!!!
