Guest guest
, I had upper lower and genioplasty for sleep apnea and now I breathe much better. snoring is also almost gone! my airway went from about 5mm to about 12mm! rule of thumb is you get about half the gain as the advancement. I had 8mm lower and 8mm chin advancement. i'm really glad i had it done. ps-you'll also feel better during the day! I don't know the paper results yet as I haven't had my follow-up PSG yet, i'm waiting for 6 months for the swelling to go down. what's your RDI/AHI now? have you done the UPPP first?(I didn't) choose your surgeon wisely and good luck. eric > hey there....im having the same exact surgery as your having. also > the um...darn it i cant remember the name..but the chin extension > also (genio somthing or other)...hahaha... > > As for anyone that has had the surgery, prior to your surgery has > anyone had problems with sleep apnea? > > After the surgery, has the sleep apnea gone away, or minimalized? > For anyone having had the surgery, do ya notice a difference in the > way you talk, or breath?? > > Im so happy i have found this site and also a few others fiddlesticks > has links to. > > Thanks gary

Guest guest
Hi , I was not diagnosed with sleep apnea (I do have some sleep issues but simple meds help for me), but my surgeon pointed out on my xray that my throat passageway was restricted. One of my complaints to him was swallowing. That's greatly improved. My voice did change, as I've mentioned here before, but I didn't notice it, others did (including my cellphone, which wouldn't respond to my post-op voice). Breathing? Wow. Big improvement. I can close my lips naturally now, and I breathe 100% through my nose. I was a life-long mouth breather and now I'm using my built-in filter. > hey there....im having the same exact surgery as your having. also > the um...darn it i cant remember the name..but the chin extension > also (genio somthing or other)...hahaha... > > Thanks gary

Guest guest
susan and eric.....oh so cool, i have not yet been diagnosed with sleep apnea, however ex girlfriends had told me that i do stop breathing when im sleeping. I had just never went to the docs about it. , as for picking my doc......I do not have a choice in that matter since the military is taking care of the surgery. I am being treated by the military officers at the military facility, no civilians are involved in this at all. As for the weight loss, no i do not diet, and never have....i didnt even think about using this surgery as a diet plan.....I was just hoping to initially loose weight, and when i get back to eating normal, is when i'll stop eating crappy foods. > > hey there....im having the same exact surgery as your having. also > > the um...darn it i cant remember the name..but the chin extension > > also (genio somthing or other)...hahaha... > > > > As for anyone that has had the surgery, prior to your surgery has > > anyone had problems with sleep apnea? > > > > After the surgery, has the sleep apnea gone away, or minimalized? > > For anyone having had the surgery, do ya notice a difference in the > > way you talk, or breath?? > > > > Im so happy i have found this site and also a few others > fiddlesticks > > has links to. > > > > Thanks gary

Guest guest
Hi , I ate pretty healthy stuff during my recovery, lots of soft cooked vegetables. I just kept on going, and I have a much healthier diet than I ever had. I lost some of my mid-life weight gain, and 2 years later, it's still off. Of course, I do exercise as well, but it's not going back to the junk food diet that has made the difference (ok, that and we also became vegetarians 2 months ago after being near- vegetarians for several years). > > > hey there....im having the same exact surgery as your having. > also > > > the um...darn it i cant remember the name..but the chin extension > > > also (genio somthing or other)...hahaha... > > > > > > As for anyone that has had the surgery, prior to your surgery has > > > anyone had problems with sleep apnea? > > > > > > After the surgery, has the sleep apnea gone away, or minimalized? > > > For anyone having had the surgery, do ya notice a difference in > the > > > way you talk, or breath?? > > > > > > Im so happy i have found this site and also a few others > > fiddlesticks > > > has links to. > > > > > > Thanks gary
