Guest guest
-Hi Georgia, I think i remember you from having your upper & lower done. IM kat_uk, not sure whether or not you will remember me. Iwas just curious if you dont mind me asking why you had to have a second surgery? was it a relapse? I had upper & lower 2 years ago now and i feel that my chin seems to be a little more forward than it was in the first few months after surgery. Probably because you have to allow movement for the settling and i may have grown a little since then. however i was offered to go back and have my chin done if i wanted to by my surgeon. No plans as yet, i was just wondering if you felt that your second surgery was some what easier than the first and whether it was to correct what was missed in the first and as im am sure it will be, worth while? thanks Good luck in your recovery, hope your feeling better soon, fingers crossed to miss the arnie swart look, lol kind regards Kat_UK

Guest guest
Hi Kat: Yes, I do remember you. Wow! Let's see, the 2nd was to remove the hardware cause I had a screw come loose near my eye socket. Plus I had jaw implants put in. The implants were due to the fact that they had to push my jaws so far forward & up (especially in the back) that it looked like someone had chopped off my jaws. (well, technically I know this is what they did but I didn't want to look like it). My surgeon had told me he understood & would put implants in but I waited too long & he retired ( & he was young!). So when the screw came loose I jumped at the chance to have his replacement do the implants while removing hardware (that way the insurance would cover everything except the actual cost of the implants). And yes, the recovery thus far has been sooo much better. I thought it would be even more of a breeze but the first day was tough due to the vomiting & the 2nd day was tough just from being tired & achey. My swelling has gone down so much. I actually went by work Monday morning to show off my face. Hopefully by the end of the week the swelling & brusing will be undetectable by people who don't know me. Does your doc think he can just shave your chin some to get the result you want? If so I think they can do that without putting you under. That would be good. I hate having to be knocked out. Well, thanks for the good wishes & I hope you get the results you want. I'll try to keep my eye out for your updates. Guest guest
--Hi Geoggia, wow check of him retiring like that, chhhh!!! THat sounds quite should i say complicated from the frist surgery. I had a screw under my eye socket from my jaw surgery too. however my plates and screws were those dissolveable ones so they said if it doesnt bother me to leave it and sure enough as far as i can feel it has dissolved. Its quite handy that you were able to have the implants at the same time of having the screw removed, might aswell kill two birds with one stone! im glad to hear that your second recovery is going much mroe smoothly, apart from the vomiting! I vaguely remeber that after surgery i was trying to throw up and wrenching and it was coming up my nose/stomach tube into a little bag, it was so disgusting, but i couldnt help laughing, it just reminded me of a scene from mr bean when hes on a plane and doesnt realise a lil boy has been sick in one o them paper bags, and he blows it up to pop it - well hmmm, i just imagined the rest of the ward covered in my blood-like vomit, nice! Isnt it a great feeling where you can go back to work- knowing you dont have to do any- and show off your new face-so to speak? i was in about 3 weeks post op flashing my stitches the responses were funny. my surgeon mentioned that if i ever wanted it doing then i could go back to see him and he would shave my chin. he didnt mention anything about a local or a general anasthetic(i have no idea how to spell that) though. It would be pretty cool to have it done just on a local though. do they have to make an incision on the face for that or can they do it on the inside of the mouth? Reply to the second post- I totally agree this site is brillant for looking at pre + post op photos. I first found it a week before my surgery and its almost comforting in a way to see peoples results and how fab they are. Its true they really do have a beam coming from their photos, its almost like theyve got all this good spirit oozing out of them and surrounding them and they cant but help keep a permenant smile slapped on their faces. Thankyou for you comments on mine btw, i am very happy with the results, i sometimes doubt my chin, but as i read a post the other day, i relised that as we have all come through this we feel that we want to be 'perfect' in every sense of the word and hec we all deserve it being through more than most to get a smile and a functioning bite that some people take for granted! I hope i didnt miss anything off there i will go and check. Happy Recovery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
