Hi Kim,

something impt to look deeper into, if you are considering starting a

family, you should discuss that with your OS and Gyn...reason I

mention is I was told several things along my long journey...(which I

won't bore you with) but I had poor gums prior to starting perio and

braces...back then, my GYN told me that if I was thinking of having

kids, that I needed my gums to be more healty! At the time it shocked

and confused me, as I thought, wait, where am I? But then I learned

more-simply put pregnancy takes a lot of nutrients from you and can

effect your gums a lot-which trickles down to so many other areas of

your health. Also if you plan on surg, you certainly don't want to be

preg during or preg just post-op and dealing with something like

morning sickness when your mouth is wired shut...

I think it's terrific you want to heal your teeth/mouth and have a

family too...just talk it out w/your health care providers too, so if

you want to bring someone new into this world you can both be happy

and healthy the whole way through.

(ps-once you start braces you should start to notice an overall

improvement to your health...since I got mine on, I haven't been

sick...and I always got bronchitis and/or sinusitus each yr once or

twice before them! So it really improves so much more than just TMJ

or an imperfect smile)
